Troy (TRIH ep 6)

1,260 BCE · Resource

Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook discuss the Trojan War: its mythic narrative, archaeological evidence, and cultural afterlives. They summarise Homeric plotlines (Helen's abduction by Paris, the decade-long siege, the wooden horse) and consider ancient and modern attempts to historicize the tale — from Homer, Herodotus and Thucydides to Heinrich Schliemann's 19th-century excavations at Hisarlik.
