The Battle of Stalingrad (TRIH ep 214, part 1)
1942 · Resource
This episode of The Rest Is History (hosts Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook) welcomes Ian McGregor to discuss the Battle of Stalingrad. Beginning with a vivid Vasily Grossman journal excerpt, the conversation situates Stalingrad within broader WWII strategy: the aftermath of Operation Barbarossa, Hitler's Case Blue drive for Caucasian oil, and the logistical strains faced by the Wehrmacht.
