France adopts the revolutionary calendar

The Republic abolishes the Christian calendar itself: twelve new months named for weather and harvest — Thermidor, Brumaire, Germinal — ten-day weeks, and years counted from the Republic's birth. France lives on revolutionary time until Napoleon restores January in 1806.
