Modelled on the American campaign, NICRA (founded 1967) demanded one man one vote, an end to gerrymandered councils and fair housing for Catholics. Police violence at the Derry march of October 1968 and the ambush at Burntollet helped turn protest into the Troubles. The period shown ends with Bloody Sunday (January 1972), after which the campaign was overtaken by the conflict; NICRA itself continued.
