Lanfranc becomes Archbishop of Canterbury

With the English episcopate purged, William installs the Italian lawyer-monk Lanfranc at Canterbury to Normanise the English church — within a generation almost every bishopric, abbey and cathedral in England is in continental hands, and being rebuilt in stone.
