Richard seizes the crown
1483 · Event
In eleven weeks Richard of Gloucester goes from loyal protector to king: the queen's kin arrested and executed, Hastings dragged from a council meeting to the block, his brother's marriage declared invalid and the princes bastards. On 26 June he accepts the crown 'reluctantly'; his nephews are never seen again.
