The Peace of Prague ends the Seven Weeks' War on terms of studied leniency — no territory taken, no victory parade through Vienna — but one clause changes the map of Europe: the German Confederation is dissolved and Austria shut out of German affairs forever. Bismarck wants a beaten rival turned future ally, not a permanent enemy; the empire Germany becomes will be Prussia's alone.
