Sparta votes for war with Athens

Pressed by Corinth and alarmed by fifty years of Athenian growth, the Spartan assembly votes that Athens has broken the peace. Thucydides gives the real reason in one line: the growth of Athenian power, and the fear it inspired in Sparta. The greatest war of the Greek world now needs only a spark.
