Archosaurs emerge

Out of the wrecked post-extinction world rises the sauropsid answer to the therapsids: the archosaurs, 'ruling reptiles', with fast-growing bone and efficient lungs built for a hothouse planet. The line splits into the crocodile branch and the bird branch — and from the bird branch, within twenty million years, come the pterosaurs and the first dinosaurs.
