Gandhi's last fast

In a Delhi of refugee camps and reprisal killings, Gandhi fasts unto death for peace between the communities — and for India to pay Pakistan its withheld share of the treasury. Five days bring pledges from every faction and the money's release. Twelve days later one of the aggrieved shoots him.
