Kilij Arslan's horse-archers catch Bohemond's column alone on the Anatolian plateau and nearly destroy it — until the second crusader army arrives on the Turkish flank at the critical hour. The road across Asia Minor is open; the crossing itself, through heat and thirst, kills thousands more.
