The Act of Proscription breaks the clans

After the Culloden reprisals comes the legal demolition: tartan and Highland dress banned, weapons confiscated, the pipes treated as an instrument of war, and, by a companion act, the chiefs' hereditary courts abolished outright. The clan system that carried the prince to Derby is dismantled by statute — and the emptied glens are cleared for sheep within a generation.
