Columbus shipped home in chains

Sent to investigate the chaos on Hispaniola — colonists in revolt, Taínos brutalised, Spaniards hanged by the Admiral's own government — a royal commissioner arrests Columbus and his brothers and ships them to Spain in irons. The sovereigns free him and fund one last voyage, but he never again governs the Indies.
