Alba's Council of Blood

Sent north with an army to punish the iconoclasm, the Duke of Alba sets up the Council of Troubles — the 'Council of Blood' — which condemns over a thousand people and executes the counts Egmont and Horn, Catholic loyalists both, in Brussels' great square. The terror meant to end the revolt makes it national.
