The rehabilitation trial clears Joan

With Rouen retaken and his own legitimacy resting on a coronation arranged by a condemned heretic, Charles VII permits a papal re-trial. A hundred and fifteen witnesses — her childhood neighbours, her soldiers, even men of the court that condemned her — testify; the 1431 verdict is annulled as fraudulent, and the trial record becomes the reason we know her voice at all.
