Operation Reinhard

1942–1943 · Event

In twenty months, the three camps built for the purpose — Bełżec, Sobibór and Treblinka — murder some 1.7 million Jews of occupied Poland, most within hours of arrival. The operation ends with the camps dismantled, plowed under and planted over: the intention was that no one would ever know.
