The search party finds the tent

Eight months on, a search party from the base camp finds the tent, the three bodies, the diaries and the letters — and 35 pounds of Glossopteris fossils the dying men had refused to abandon, proof Antarctica was once green and joined to other continents. They collapse the tent over the bodies and build a cairn; the news reaches the world in February.
