Cretaceous Period

145-66 million years ago · Event

The longest act of the dinosaur age: the continents drift towards their modern places, flowering plants and the insects that pollinate them remake the land, and dinosaurs reach their peak diversity — Triceratops, Ankylosaurus and Tyrannosaurus rex are all latecomers of its final chapters. It ends in a single very bad day, when a ten-kilometre asteroid strikes the Yucatán.
