Allosaurus
c. 155-145 million years ago · Event
The top predator of the Jurassic: nine metres of ambush hunter with a lightweight skull that could swing like a hatchet, preying on the great sauropods and duelling Stegosaurus — one Allosaurus tail bone carries a healed wound the exact shape of a Stegosaurus spike. The most common carnivore in North America's Morrison rocks by far.
