Brontosaurus

The 'thunder lizard' with the comeback story: named in 1879, declared a duplicate of Apatosaurus in 1903, and beloved anyway for a century — museums, films and a US postage stamp kept the name alive. In 2015 a major re-analysis resurrected Brontosaurus as its own genus, delighting everyone who had never stopped using the best name in palaeontology.
