Diplodocus
c. 154-152 million years ago · Event
Twenty-five metres from nose to whip-tail tip — most of it neck and tail — Diplodocus is the long dinosaur: light for its length, cropping ferns in herds across Jurassic America. Andrew Carnegie shipped plaster casts of 'Dippy' to the crowned heads of Europe in the 1900s, making it the first dinosaur celebrity; London's cast greeted Natural History Museum visitors for 112 years.
